PROGRAM
The Council Program Committee is made up of the Chairs of the Activities, Advancement, International Scouting, Religious Relations, Training, & Jamboree Steering Committees and it oversees the Scouting program of Miami Valley Council. Part of that role is to support the Scouting program at the Unit, District, & Council level. The Program Committee also reviews, discusses, and makes recommendations on program-related issues as requested.

Learn MoreAdvancement
Advancing in rank helps expand a Scout’s horizons and is the process by which Scouts learn useful skills and gain experience. The next rank is not the goal – the learning and experience is the goal. It is one of several methods the Boy Scouts of America has developed to help leaders carry out Scouting’s aims and mission. Advancement applies across all aspects of youth Scouting including Cubs, Scouts BSA, and Venturing.
The Council Advancement Committee is responsible for serving our Scout’s advancement and recognition needs and providing guidance for Scouters who administer the program. Along with the District Advancement Committees, our Council’s CAC is tasked with ensuring adherence to the requirements established by National.
INTERNATIONAL
The mission of the International Scouting Committee of the Miami Valley Council is to promote International Scouting activities, awareness, opportunities, and recognition, both at home and abroad, for Miami Valley Council youth, adults, and their units at all levels of Scouting.
TRAINING
The Training Committee monitors and encourages leader training on all levels of Scouting. District Training Chairs work with units in their districts to provide the necessary support to get Pack, Troop, and Crew leaders trained for their specific unit rolls. The Training Committee supports Council training events – Buckskin, Wood Badge, NYLT – and provides them with the latest training materials. The Training Committee also works with Council Leadership to identify areas that show training weakness and rectify the situation in a way that is beneficial to all.
RELIGIOUS
As a group of Scouters of diverse faiths, the committee’s activities will be governed by BSA & Lord Baden-Powell’s tenets of duty to God. The Religious Relations Committee works with the Council, Districts, and Units (Packs, Troops & Crews) to promote Reverence.
