Mandatory Training Requirements
Training and trained leaders are fundamental to strong Scout units. Despite position-specific training being available online for all positions, these trainings being a one-time training for the leaders, and the Training Committee and District Training Chairs trying to work with units to get leaders trained, the Position-Specific Trained percentages for trained leaders in the Miami Valley Council continues to run between 46% – 52% per Central Region records. Miami Valley Council Boys Scouts of America has agreed to make training required. This mandatory training requirement will be rolled in over a 3-year period as outlined below.
Youth Protection Training
It is the mission of Youth Protection volunteers to work to maintain a culture of Youth Protection awareness and safety at all levels.
- Create or log into your account at my.scouting.org
- On the right side of the screen Click on “Youth Protection Training”
- “Enroll” in Youth Protection Training and complete the training
Position Specific
A trained leader is knowledgeable and confident in the role being performed, and the knowledge and confidence of a trained leader are quickly sensed by those they lead. We strive to provide leader-specific training for any and all looking to improve within their leadership role.
- Create or log into your account at my.scouting.org
- On the right side of the screen, click on “BSA Learn Center”
- Choose your program and select your position.
- “Enroll” in your learning plan and complete the training
