Look Who’s New at Miami Valley Council

Please welcome Iris Martinez Jurgens to the Miami Valley Council team as the Development Director beginning June 16, 2021. In this new role, Iris will support volunteer committees with the development and implementation of our council’s strategic fundraising plan. She will oversee donor stewardship, major giving, special event management, foundations/grants, and community philanthropic engagement.

 

Iris has served in leadership positions with other organizations in the Miami Valley including: Dayton Metro Library, American Red Cross and St. Leonard Franciscan Health. Iris has served the community as a member of the boards of the Dayton Hispanic Chamber, Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), and Human Relations Council for the City of Dayton. She has also served as Commissioner on the Ohio Commission on Hispanic and Latino Affairs (OCHLA), and the Central State University Board of Trustees. She currently serves on the Premier Health Partners Community Health Initiatives Diversity Sub-Committee and Dayton Rotary Foundation Board.

 

Iris is a graduate of the University of Texas and attended the Harvard Kennedy School for Leadership Decision Making.

 

A member of the Rotary Club of Dayton, Iris was selected as a ‘Woman to Watch’ by Women in Business Networking (WiBN), a program of the Better Business Bureau of Dayton. She is a graduate of Leadership Dayton, Class of 2013.

 

Iris is a major league baseball and college football fan. She enjoys performing improv, ballroom dancing and spending time with her husband, John, their dogs, Zero and Fritzi and cat, Toonces Juergens.
